為向我校優(yōu)秀學(xué)生提供更多的國(guó)際交流機(jī)會(huì)，我校于2014年起與加利福尼亞大學(xué)洛杉磯分校（UCLA）開(kāi)展本科生暑期項(xiàng)目（CSST)。有關(guān)項(xiàng)目詳細(xì)內(nèi)容請(qǐng)見(jiàn)《UCLA本科生暑期項(xiàng)目介紹》。

 

　　一、 項(xiàng)目簡(jiǎn)介

　　PROGRAM OVERVIEW

　　The CSST Summer Program is a 10-week intensive research training and PhD recruitment program. Each student will be enrolled in 12 units of UCLA courses, conduct research under the guidance of a UCLA faculty mentor, and participate in required CSST activities including professional development and networking events. UCLA PhD programs will preview potential PhD applicants’ research performance and begin early recruitment for the next year’s admission cycle.

　　About 95% of CSST participants came from biomedical & life sciences, physical Science, and engineering majors. But we also welcome students from non-STEM majors such as geology, sociology, political science, and so forth . (STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics.)

　　The specific goals of the CSST Summer Program are to:

　　§　Develop students’ research career potentials

　　§　Foster cross-disciplinary interaction and research

　　§　Develop a community of CSST colleagues

　　§　Identify and recruit top students to UCLA PhD programs

　　PROGRAM DATES

　　STUDENT SELECTION

　　A limited number (80-100) of applicants who meet the following criteria will be selected for the January 2014 CSST interviews:

　　§　3rd-year undergraduate student (or 4th-year in 5-year program)

　　§　Strong interest in UCLA PhD career

　　§　Interest in interdisciplinary study

　　§　Outstanding academic achievement

　　§　Previous research experience

　　§　High English proficiency

　　§　Independent thinking & creativity

　　§　Mature personality

　　§　For Chinese students: Willingness to accept China Scholarship Council (CSC) scholarship for graduate school. http://www.csc.edu.cn.

 

　　APPLICATION DEADLINE

　　The deadline for application submission is November 10th , 2013. 

　　The application is divided into three parts. The applicants are required to complete all three parts before November 10th , 2013 in order to have their applications reviewed by CSST.

　　·　Part 1: Application form – Basic information, academic background, research experience, etc..

　　·　Part 2: Documents uploads – Photo, Official transcripts, Curriculum Vitae, 2-part Essay

　　·　Part 3: Application Fee payment – $80 US dollar (non-refundable)

 

　　二、項(xiàng)目申請(qǐng)

　　1.參加報(bào)名的同學(xué)請(qǐng)于11月1日前準(zhǔn)備好以下材料：

　　　1）完成網(wǎng)審Part1，網(wǎng)審材料Part2準(zhǔn)備齊全；

　　　2）項(xiàng)目報(bào)名表。提交電子版即可，發(fā)送至enroll@bit.edu.cn , 郵件主題注明“2014年加州大學(xué)洛杉磯分校（UCLA）CSST項(xiàng)目+姓名”；

　　　3）學(xué)生短期境外學(xué)習(xí)或活動(dòng)備案表。專業(yè)責(zé)任教授及學(xué)院教學(xué)院長(zhǎng)簽字后，交到教務(wù)處本科生國(guó)際教育辦公室（主樓尾樓西南角）于老師處。
